To combat hunger in Pakistan, RI is distributing wheat, lentil and vegetable seeds to rural families that have been severely affected by the unprecedented surge in food prices. Through this program, RI has helped thousands of farmers increase their crop yield to ensure they have enough food to feed their families.
RI's lifesaving health interventions in North Darfur serves 500 women each week with lifesaving motherhood services and cares for more than 1,000 children every week, providing protective vaccines, nourishment, and check-ups. In addition, RI has provided more than 25 local health professionals with training to advance their medical skills.
RI has been working with local communities in Afghanistan and Pakistan to support education and will now work to strengthen literacy through the creation of community-based libraries. The goal of the project is to create libraries that children can access easily and safely, allowing them to learn important life skills in order to build a better tomorrow.
More than 20 million people have been affected by the severe flooding in Pakistan – a number greater than the total affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 northern Pakistan earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake, COMBINED. More than 893,000 households have been damaged or destroyed – these families have lost everything. And yet the rains and the devastation continue.
Relief International’s teams are providing clean water, food, shelter, hygiene kits, emergency medical supplies and health services to 100,000 families in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KPK), Baluchistan and Punjab provinces.
